Chocolate chip cookie is a drop cookie that originated in the United states and features chocolate chips or chocolate morsels as its distinguishing ingredients. It is served as a dessert or snack.Main ingredients of the chocolate chip cookies are flour, sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, baking soda and salt. But you can add variations, like you can add nuts, oatmeal, peanut butter, etc.

  • Unsalted butter (softened) – 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Light brown sugar (tightly packed) – 1 cup
  • Eggs – 2 larges
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour – 3 cups
  • Baking soda (sifted) – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 2 cups

Instructions for making chocolate chip cookies-

1.Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit or 177 degree Celsius. In a bowl add room temperature butter, light brown sugar and whit sugar and mix them with a stand mixer with paddle attachment. Beat 5 minutes on medium and high speed until creamy and light.

2.Add 2 eggs , one at a time, beating well with each addition, scrapping down the bowl as needed, then add 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and beat again.

3.In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt and baking soda. Add this mixture gradually into creamed butter and mix.

4.Add 2 cups of chocolate chips and fold the mixture.

5.Now, take baking tray and line it with parchment paper or butter. Use ice cream scoop to get even balls of dough (3 tablespoon each). Place scoops of dough onto the lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart. You can add some more chocolate chips on the top of the cookies, if you want. Bake the cookies right away or you can refrigerate and bake them later.

6.Bake one cookie sheet at a time for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit., until edges are just turning golden. The tops should still look under-baked. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes because they are very soft and if you take them out immediately, they may break.

7.Serve chocolate chip cookies with milk, coffee or as it is.

  • Don’t over bake your cookies because it make the cookies hard. The cookies should be removed from the oven when they are just turning golden at the base and the dough still looks a little raw on top. They won’t look done coming out of the oven and you will be tempted to keep them longer, but please do not over bake.
  • Removing the chocolate chip cookies at the right time is the secret to soft chocolate chip cookies.
  • Make sure to measure the amount of flour completely and properly. If the amount of flour in not accurate, cookies may get flattened and not fluffy.
  • Butter and eggs should be at room temperature before adding them into the mixture.
  • If you want, you can refrigerate the cookies and bake them next day. Cookies can last 5-6 days.
